What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of mind achieved through deep relaxation where suggestions are acted upon far more readily than is possible under normal conditions. While under hypnosis we will suppress the power of our conscious criticism and judgment and by focusing our attention, our awareness is heightened far beyond what is achievable while in a fully conscious state. This hypnotic state allows suggestions to go directly into our subconscious mind leading to meaningful and long lasting results.

We naturally find ourselves in a hypnotic state when daydreaming, just before we fall asleep and in numerous other situations, although these are often mild states of hypnosis and we are not always using them positively. Because hypnotherapy is such a flexible and powerful tool it can be used to treat a wide array of human conditions.
